SUMMARY:EGI2022: Together for Tomorrow. Innovative Computing for Research
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by EGI and CESNET\, EGI2022 will take place on 20-22 of September 2022 in Prague. Co-located events on Monday September 19th and Friday September 23rd are possible. \nThe annual EGI conference is widely recognised as the venue that brings together like-minded professionals from the world of science and scientific computing. During EGI2022\, we will look towards the future – how will innovative computing services and solutions help to build a better research ecosystem? How can we work towards innovation? And what opportunities are there for new collaborations? \nTogether for Tomorrow – join us on a journey of turning ideas into reality\, recognising the fact that big ideas require collaboration.

SUMMARY:Workshop on National Policies relevant to EOSC deployment
DESCRIPTION:EOSC Synergy\, together with EOSC Pillar\, EOSC Nordic\, ExPaNDS\, NI4OS\, EOSC Future and FAIRsFAIR\, invites you to the in-person workshop “National Policies relevant to EOSC deployment – Status\, gaps\, and steps towards harmonisation’\, to be organised in Strasbourg\, France on May 4th\, 2022. During the workshop\, we will present the findings of the regional EOSC projects on national open science\, funding\, and access provisioning policies. \n\n\n\nAs this is the first in-person workshop organised in a very long time\, we expect high interest. As places are limited\, make sure to register in time. An option for remote participation is available\, to be indicated at registration. The exact programme and speakers will be announced shortly on the event indico page\, but we can already share the overarching themes and sessions this workshop will consist of: \n\n\n\nOpen Science/EOSC National Policies \n\n\n\nThis session focuses on the presentation of findings from the EOSC regional projects on the status of national Open Science Cloud and EOSC policies in the regions concerned\, Countries in different regions have different approaches and are progressing at different pace. The workshop will discuss differences and gaps\, with the view that these make the implementation more complicated\, it will aim to increase understanding of the different policies/approaches and suggest recommendations and steps that can be taken to support a successful EOSC implementation and uptake. \n\n\n\nFunding policies \n\n\n\nThis session focuses on the presentation of findings from the EOSC regional projects with respect to funding policies in the regions concerned. It will include presentations of successful business models and viable funding schemes at the institutional\, national\, or regional and international level. It will address the shortage of coherent and stable funding policies\, discuss differences and gaps\, and it will suggest recommendations and steps that can be taken to foster better alignment of funding policies nationally and internationally. \n\n\n\nAccess Provisioning Policies \n\n\n\nThis session focuses on the presentation of findings from the EOSC regional projects with respect to access provisioning policies in the regions concerned. Specific aspects to be considered will be related to EuroHPC and cross-border resources provisioning\, cross-border collaboration\, and conditions for transnational access; however\, access will also be considered in terms of sustainability\, from the user point of view and the availability of skills and capacity building. The findings and recommendations will look at the applicable scope (national/cross-border) and the profile of service policies (how\, where they are provided\, to which users and under which conditions) for access. \n\n  \n\nProgramme:\n\n\n\nprogramme details and speakers will be announced shortly \n\n  \n\nRegistration:\n\n\n\nhttps://indico.egi.eu/event/5825/\n\n  \n\n

SUMMARY:EOSC Synergy kicks off in Santiago de Compostela
DESCRIPTION:EOSC Synergy kicks off in Santiago de Compostela.\n\nEOSC Synergy will contribute to the European Open Science Cloud landscape by expanding the capacities and building the capabilities of EOSC. In practice this will mean more compute and storage available to researchers\, and more datasets and tools to expand avenues of research.\n\nIn the upcoming 3 years\, EOSC Synergy will be the H2020 instrument to promote the implementation and adoption of EOSC services by scientific users in the countries involved in the consortium.\n\nThe ultimate goal is to build EOSC as a coordinated effort\, as an open environment for scientific data and related processing that promotes convergence of infrastructures and scientific thematic services provided at national or European level.\n\nThe project is coordinated by IBERGRID\, the Iberian scientific and technological cooperation framework signed by Spain and Portugal on distributed computing.\n\nMore information on the event.
